Members of the Hospice Lotteries Association are committed to using lotteries to raise vital funds for hospices in a responsible way.
While the risk of 'problem gambling' associated with hospice lotteries is small, there may be circumstances where some players or their families may wish to discuss gambling-related problems with specialist advisers.
To facilitate this, Hospice Lotteries Association financially supports the work of Gamble Aware (formally known as Responsible Gambling Trust) - the organisation which provides this support. The annual donation of £500 made to the Gamble Aware by the Hospice Lotteries Association satisfies its members' requirements under LCCP 3.1.1 (Combating problem gambling).
Responsible Gambling Trust operate as Gamble Aware
Gamble Aware is the leading charity in the UK committed to minimising gambling-related harm. As an independent national charity funded by donations from the gambling industry, Gamble Aware funds education, prevention and treatment services and commissions research to broaden public understanding of gambling-related harm. The aim is to stop people getting into problems with their gambling, and ensure that those that do develop problems receive fast and effective treatment and support.
Gamble Aware raises a minimum of £5million each year from the gambling industry operating in Britain within a voluntary (donation based) system and funds research, education, prevention and treatment services. Funding priorities are guided by the national strategy, advised by the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board (RGSB) and endorsed by the Gambling Commission.
As an independent national charity, Gamble Aware is registered with and regulated by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
Their aim is to promote responsibility in gambling by providing information to help people make informed decisions about their gambling. They will help to find out more about gambling and what responsible gambling means, to understand and recognise problem gambling, and show where to go for further information, help and support to those who need it.
