The HLA Board has recently accepted the retirements of three Directors, effective as of the AGM at Conference on 13 September 2017.
The following Directors will not seek re-election:
Anthony Lord is an inaugural Director of the HLA Board, having joined at incorporation in 2009. His input into the organisation over the last eight years has been very valuable and he will be missed for his knowledge and experience. Ant has recently moved to a new organisation and role but will still be seen regularly at HLA events
Liz Singleton joined the Board in 2011 and as well as bringing a long background and understanding of Hospice Lotteries to the Board, was invaluable to the conference team, in supporting their work on the HLA’s most important annual events. Liz will retire in December, and we wish she and Andy the very best as they prepare to travel.
Carmel Hudson has been a member of the Board since 2013, and has kept the Board in order from the role of Secretary. Carmel’s abilities have been further recognised by her Hospice and an upgrade in role has meant that the time previously provided to the HLA will not be available any further.
On behalf of all the members of the HLA, we would like to thank Ant, Liz and Carmel for their commitment to Hospice Lotteries and the furtherance of the aims of the HLA. Without the stewardship that the Directors provide, the association would not function as it does.
Directors seeking formal election
The HLA Board co-opted Julie Hughes to the Board in May. As you are all aware Julie has a wealth of lottery knowledge earned over many years as a Hospice Lottery Manager. Critically Julie also heads up the Conference committee and has moved on to the Board to continue the engagement following Liz’s retirement. Julie has co-ordinated the team for a number of years and was an obvious selection to be asked to join the Board.
Nomination for election
The Board of Directors are now seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates to join them in managing the affairs of the HLA and shaping its direction in the upcoming period.
Please see the Directors Policy and Responsibilities, including the details of how to apply. Nominations close 25 August 2017. The nomination panel will review the submissions and respond within the following week. It is essential that nominees have already gained approval from their Hospice to stand for the Board.
